First Weekend

Our first weekend here we ventured around the city, which means a lot of walking! We visited the Ponte Vechio which was built for the Medici family, who ruled Florence for over 300 years, so they had a direct and personal passage over the river. Today the bridge is filled with expensive jewelry stores and tourists snapping a good pic!
We went to the grocery store at least 4 times since we have been here. Because a lot of things need to be bought fresh and we have a minirefrigerator, we tend to go once a day or more. We have cooked dinner 3 nights now and eat sandwiches or leftovers for lunch.

While walking around, we also found our school. It's located just a few blocks south of the Duomo. It was hard to find at first because we read the address wrong, but after asking directions from the lady in an art store near by we found it. The bottom floor is not occupied by the school, but the rest are. Most of the building we have seen so far are like this, but the entry level floor is a shop or restaurant or store with the others being apartments.
Here are some pictures of the Duomo. It was so amazing when we first saw it! Because the streets are so narrow and the buildings are 4 levels high, you cannot see the dome while walking through the city. But coming off a small street and being greeted by this amazin structure was breath taking. Because the building is so large and we were just passing by, I don't have a good picture to show how big it is.

Here are me and my roommates, Sandy, Me, Chealyn, and Charlotte.Oh and I found an Italian Buddy!!! How cute are they!?!

  1. I love the Italian version of buddy! By the way, going to "the market" every day to grocery shop is very European.
